Carriage Requirements

• Mandatory on all IMO SOLAS vessels on international voyages:
  • One SART for vessels between 300-500 GRT
  • Two SARTs for vessels exceeding 500 GRT
  • One SART per every four liferafts on ro-ro passenger vessels
• Required on nationally mandated vessels, including fishing boats, passenger craft, and commercial workboats
• Essential for most Super and Mega yachts, especially those adhering to the MCA code of practice recognized internationally
• Beneficial for voluntary-fit vessels seeking enhanced safety measures

How the SafeSea S100 SART Works

The SafeSea S100 SART is engineered to facilitate the swift rescue and recovery of liferafts and survival craft. Once activated, the SART remains in standby mode until it detects an X Band Radar sweep from a nearby vessel. Upon activation, the transponder emits a series of pulses that appear on the ship's radar screen as a line of dots, providing a precise bearing to the survival craft. The activation controls mirror those of the SafeSea E100 EPIRB, allowing for intuitive use even by untrained operators.
