Ease of Installation
The AIT1500 eliminates the need for an external GPS antenna by incorporating a high-sensitivity internal GPS receiver. This design reduces antenna clutter and accelerates the installation process, allowing you to connect to power and a plotter, plug in a VHF antenna, and be operational swiftly.
It utilizes an NMEA0183 interface, ensuring compatibility with most AIS-compatible chart plotters. Additionally, a separate 4800 baud GPS data output is available for DSC VHF radios, if required. The transponder operates efficiently on 12/24V systems, consuming less than 2W of power.
Mounting and Connectivity
The internal GPS antenna is designed to receive signals through plastic, glass, and GRP, enabling mounting below decks on many boats without signal loss. A dedicated VHF antenna is necessary for AIS functionality, or alternatively, you can use a suitable VHF-AIS antenna splitter like the SPL2000. The transponder can also be connected to the WLN10 for enhanced navigation capabilities.
